About Land Bank Twin Cities
Land Bank Twin Cities (LBTC) is a nonprofit social impact real estate and finance intermediary bridging critical gaps in community development. This means we step in when the market isn’t working, especially in neighborhoods that have experienced chronic disinvestment. We were founded to disrupt the systems that strip land and property from those communities and to reimagine how capital flows to support community ownership, wealth-building, and stability. Our ambidextrous structure enables us to manage financial risk and transactional complexity while designing and scaling models that change how capital moves and who benefits. We serve as a conduit, making it possible for small developers, nonprofits, and community stakeholders to participate in real estate markets otherwise dominated by speculation. Since 2009, Land Bank has been at the forefront of breaking barriers in real estate across Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties in Minnesota, helping neighborhoods grow without displacement and to close racial wealth gaps through equitable access to land and opportunity.
We deploy three primary tools—strategic acquisition, community lending, and land banking—to prevent displacement, increase access to ownership, and redirect capital into historically excluded communities. These tools enable nonprofits, community partners, emerging developers, and residents to access real estate they would otherwise be priced out of. Through these three tools, LBTC serves as a purchaser, community lender, property manager, and technical advisor, helping mission-driven partners advance real estate projects that benefit disadvantaged communities.
