About Home HeadQuarters

Home HeadQuarters (HHQ) is a nonprofit housing and neighborhood development organization and certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) based in Syracuse, New York, that provides New York State homeowners with extensive and accessible lending programs, HUD-certified homeownership and financial education and counseling and targeted property development. The organization is recognized nationally for its innovative lending products and currently ranks as the leading home improvement lender amongst the 250+ NeighborWorks America network members throughout the U.S., and as the leading and second leading mortgage lender to Black homebuyers in Syracuse and Onondaga County, respectively. Since 1996, Home HeadQuarters has helped nearly 6000 families become first-time homebuyers through education and counseling; provided homeowners with more than $180 million in home improvement loans and grants and more than $100 million in down payment assistance and first mortgage financing; and redeveloped almost 1500 properties through substantial rehabilitation of formerly vacant properties, new single-family home construction, selective demolition and other strategies. The organization includes affiliates CNY Affordable Realty, the only nonprofit realtor in Central New York; Syracuse Model Neighborhood Corporation, an affordable rental housing provider; and Opportunity Headquarters, a full-service construction entity. Home HeadQuarters is the country’s first designated Community Based Development Organization (CBDO), a chartered member of NeighborWorks America, a member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York and a Neighborhood Preservation Company (NYS NPP).
