South Shore Housing Development Corp. (SSH) is a regional housing service and development agency serving Plymouth and Bristol counties in Southeastern Massachusetts. Founded in 1970, SSH currently owns and manages 380 units at 21 properties. These properties include three elderly, five family, and 13 special needs projects. SSH also administers more than 2,600 federal and state rental vouchers and certificates. Starting in 2011, SSH has housed and supported over 1000 formerly homeless families with state-funded housing assistance. SSH also runs the Housing Consumer Education Center for the region, which provides the full range of housing services including homebuyer training, foreclosure counseling, homeless prevention, financial literacy and housing search services to thousands of households annually. SSH sees stable and affordable housing as an important prerequisite to a brighter economic future and works to support and encourage all the people it serves to take steps to enhance their economic independence.
