Formed in 1993, the San Antonio Alternative Housing Corporation provides housing and support services for low and moderate-income communities in Texas, with special emphasis on Bexar County. Initiatives include a first-time homebuyer education program, a first-time home owners program, a scattered-site rental housing program, multi-family development, a home repair program for the elderly and disabled, and social services, education and recreation programs through its Community Learning Centers. SAAHC is currently constructing four homes a month for home ownership and owns more than 4,100 rental units.
