Heartland Alliance for Human Needs & Human Rights helps people living in poverty or danger improve their lives and realize their human rights. For more than 100 years, Heartland Alliance has provided hope, opportunity, and solutions—through both services and advocacy. Factors beyond housing such as health care, economic security, and legal protection can play a crucial role in establishing a stable home and environment. Founded in 1989, as the community development partner of Heartland Alliance, Heartland Housing was one of the first supportive housing providers in the United States, combining housing development with supportive services to ensure resident housing success. Since our founding, Heartland Housing has developed over 1,600 units of affordable and supportive housing and is developing a pipeline of projects that encompasses Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Heartland Housing's success in expanding affordable and supportive housing comes, in part, from our long history of working closely with communities. Our collaborative approach with local leaders, residents, and institutions has garnered the trust and respect of our neighbors across the many communities in which we operate.
