The NHS of Chicago, the city’s largest nonprofit community development organization, is a partnership of residents, financial institutions, insurance companies, corporations and government working together to revitalize Chicago neighborhoods. By using its limited resources as a catalyst to stimulate reinvestment and restore confidence in a neighborhood, local NHS offices offer rehabilitation and loan assistance, insurance and financial counseling and advocacy with city departments and housing courts. Since 1975, the NHS of Chicago has served more than 160,000 clients, financed the building or rehabilitation of more than 25,000 homes and provided homeownership education and counseling to more than 23,000 families.
