Founded in 1998, Covenant Community Capital provides low-income families in Houston with access to social capital, financial literacy, education, and affordable housing. Covenant is a CDFI that provides financial services. Two affiliates--Covenant Neighborhoods and Orchard Communities--develop rental housing for families and seniors. Covenant has delivered $32 million in small business equity, created 700+ jobs, opened 1,000 individual development accounts and closed on 210 asset purchases (homes bought, education, and businesses started), financed 632 affordable housing units, and formed a statewide network—Raise Texas—to foster economic independence. It has provided homebuyer counseling to 600 families, 210 of which have purchased homes. Covenant has built 40 new single-family homes and 600 new rental homes.
