The National Affordable Housing Trust was founded in 1986 as a financial intermediary for two of the nations oldest and largest nonprofit housing organizations -- National Church Residences (NCR) and the Retirement Housing Foundation (RHF). Volunteers of America (VOA) joined in the mid-1990s. NAHT members have developed and operate over 6,000 units of affordable rental housing in 12 states. NAHT functions as a financial intermediary for its members, but also provides a broad range of predevelopment, development, financial, asset management and syndication services.
