Formed in 1982 by community activists in a Portland, Oregon neighborhood, REACH now operates throughout the three-county metro region. REACH has developed and preserved nearly 1,300 affordable rental units and 25 ownership homes, and manages 1,100 of the apartments it owns. By 2010, REACH is planning to build or preserve an additional 200 housing units. In addition, REACH operates a wide array of community development programs, including a home repair program for senior homeowners and financial literacy and career service programs for youth and adult tenants living in REACH housing.
