Preservation of Affordable Housing is a mission-driven, entrepreneurial nonprofit committed to preserving affordable housing throughout the United States. POAH acquires, financially restructures, physically rehabilitates and manages ‘at risk’ housing--rental apartments endangered by mismanagement and neglect or the threat of conversion to market rents. POAH owns more than 6,400 apartments in nine states and the District of Columbia, serving the working poor, families, individuals, and seniors. POAH has an experienced and respected staff and board and is at the forefront of efforts to impact public policy—federal, state and local—to support housing preservation. POAH also operates property-based programs which address residents’ service needs, bridge the digital divide, and employ cutting-edge techniques to improve energy efficiency.
