Homeownership Counseling

Helping Families Buy Homes and Build Assets

Housing Partnership Counseling supports members in their efforts to increase affordable and sustainable homeownership for lower-income, new immigrant, and minority households in communities across the country.

Since 1995, the Network has received more than $14 million in housing counseling funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and distributed it to 40 member organizations. Network members have leveraged this funding to obtain $100 million more from banks, foundations, and state and local governments. Collectively, they have provided more than 400,000 families with high-quality homeownership education and counseling. As a result, 80,000 families have bought or retained their homes.

A cooperative partnership model guides our work in housing counseling. We bring members together once a year to share innovations, encourage new program development, and improve program operations.
