Data Warehouse
The performance benchmarking data warehouse is a web-based technology platform developed by CoopMetrics, a company that has worked with leaders in a variety of sectors to help independent businesses identify and learn about their specific strengths and vulnerabilities. Participating Network members upload financial information into the Data Warehouse, and are then able to do comparative analyses of their organizational and property performance against other housing nonprofits participating in the initiative. Users are able to see trends within their own business operations, compare their performance with peers and easily identify areas for improvement in their businesses.
Already, 35 nonprofits, representing over 75,000 units, have mapped their data in the online warehouse to allow for real-time comparison and benchmarking. We have a goal to grow our data set to 80 organizations over the next several years.
Currently, the data collection has a focus on multi-family rental housing properties. There are plans to build out the data warehouse to support other business types in our industry, including a near-term exploration of CDFIs in lending and single-family housing development.
