The Network’s REO Working Group provides key peer learning and planning support to members establishing or expanding neighborhood stabilization activities. Initiated as a peer exchange among members responding to the foreclosure crisis in their communities, the REO Working Group brings together leading practitioners to share experiences, gain business-critical knowledge and identify common challenges. Our business support and technical assistance also helps members to implement strategies that address property and asset management, property disposition and home mortgage financing.
The work of this group contributed to the establishment of the federal Neighborhood Stabilization Program and the National Community Stabilization Trust, which facilitates the volume transfer of foreclosed properties to neighborhood redevelopment entities.
The Network funded a series of planning grants to its members as they constructed business models for the stabilization efforts. As importantly, the REO Working Group has served as a consistent forum for peer exchange and learning, through in-person meetings, conference calls and webinars. The sharing of key documents, best practices and web-based online exchanges can also take place through the Housing Partnership ONLINE website.
