The dramatic increase in health insurance costs has prompted the Housing Partnership Network to explore the viability of establishing a group self-insurance program for employee health benefits. Our member organizations have been hard hit by constantly rising health care costs, and member conversations on this topic have led to further exploration of this effort.
A steering committee comprised of 10 senior leaders from participating groups is guiding the work of Network staff and consultants. The programming due diligence includes conducting an actuarial study with the health plan information and demographic data provided by members, reviewing the legal framework for the initiative, and engaging in discussions with insurance companies, care networks, pharmacy managers, and other key service providers.
