Investment Portfolio
Housing Partnership Ventures provides critical capital to support the creation and expansion of mission businesses launched by the Network and its members. Capital investment, in the form of loans and equity investment, is tailored to the particular needs of a transaction. To date, Housing Partnership Ventures has invested in the following projects:
- Provided $1 million in loss reserves to the Housing Partnership Fund which provided $68 million of financing to create and preserve 12,000 affordable homes
- Financed $3 million for equity investments by the 18 founding members of the Housing Partnership Insurance Exchange to insure 30,000 affordable apartments
- Invested $2 million of core capital, $1.5 million in project equity, and a $500,000 working capital loan to start up the Gulf Coast Housing Partnership
- Invested $350,000 in working capital to launch the Charter School Financing Partnership with five of the nation’s leading CDFIs to provide tax exempt facilities financing
- Invested $200,000 in startup capital for the National Community Stabilization Trust — a collaborative of the Network and five national nonprofit intermediaries
- Provided a $1.2 million working capital loan to capitalize Housing Partnership DIRECT – a buying cooperative for the nations’ largest nonprofit developers and owners
- Received $10 million in demonstration grants from the United States Congress and $5 million in debt from Merrill Lynch to capitalize the Network’s social enterprises
- Made $3.5 million in New Markets Tax Credit loans providing commercial capital critical to the initiation and expansion of community businesses
