Housing Partnership Ventures makes impact investments to support the start-up and expansion of social enterprises created by the Network and its members. Created as a nonprofit investment fund in 2004 to finance the start up of Housing Partnership Insurance, Ventures was initially capitalized with $10 million of demonstration grants from the United States Congress and $8 million of financing from the private sector.
Through equity investments, working capital and subordinate debt, Ventures has leveraged more than $400 million in financing for high-impact enterprises such as the Gulf Coast Housing Partnership, BRIDGE Housing Corporation, the National Community Stabilization Trust, and Housing Partnership DIRECT.
Housing Partnership Ventures is now seeking additional funding from social investors and the federal government to expand our impact investing initiatives. The shortage of equity-like capital is a critical barrier that limits the scale and production of the nation's leading nonprofit developers and lenders. New Ventures funding will be invested with a sound underwriting approach guided by the Network's deep knowledge of our members' businesses, the policy environment and the broader market.
